Today we met our
daughter.* For an hour – the quickest
hour of our lives – we got to hold and feed and snuggle her. She is perfect, of course.
She was born on Tuesday,
March 17th at 7 lbs 9 oz and 19 inches. She was released into our agency’s interim
care on Thursday, and will stay there until we are able to bring her home
(hopefully mid-late April). Yes, we have
a name picked out – but you’ll have to wait until everything is finalized
before we share it…
*Hopefully! We are still in the “risk period”. Birthmom can change her mind up through April
17th. Our agency is still
working on locating Birthdad, and once they locate him and he signs the
paperwork, he’ll have 30 days to change his mind.
How you can pray:
1.
Pray for her
health and adjustment during this transitional time.
2.
Pray for Birthmom. We are in awe of her for her bravery in
making an adoption plan for her daughter.
3.
Pray for Birthdad
as, once they find him, he learns about his daughter and has to make a decision
about whether or not to terminate his rights.
4.
Pray for the
interim caregiver, who is taking care of the baby for us during this
transitional time.
5.
And finally, pray
for Jason and me as we are making our final preparations (physical and
emotional) for parenthood. Also pray
that we can remain “cautiously optimistic” during this time of great
anticipation and also great risk.
